curriculum is a combination of "The Core Curriculum", which is based on Ed
Hirsch's, "Core Knowledge", and the standards set by the State of Nevada. You can check this out

Administrator and Teacher
Mr.
Lonnie Karges received his Associate of Art degree from Concordia
University in Irvine, CA in 1980. He continued
on to Concordia University in Seward, NE to earn his
Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a Director
of Education certificate. He has a minor in History
with a Biblical Theology concentration. Mr. Karges
received his Master of Education degree in 1997. He
lives and breathes the LA Dodgers. |

Kindergarten Mrs. Debbie Winkelman received her degree in Early Child Education from UNR in 1991. In addition to teaching kindergarten, Mrs. Winkelman is director of the Learning Lambs preschool as well as the day care. When she's not working, she can be found keeping score at the baseball fields and taking care of her many exotic animals. |

First Grade Mrs. Cheryl Henry was born in Denver, Colorado and was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. After High School, she returned to Denver where in 1989, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Regis College After working for several years as a probation officer and an investigator for the U.S. Department of Education, she returned to school and earned her K-8 teaching certification. She is currently working on her Master's degree in Education from Sierra Nevada College. Mrs. Henry already has four years experience in the classroom here at Bethlehem Lutheran School. She enjoys spending time with her family and her Bull Terrier, reading and traveling throughout the United States.

Second Grade Miss Natalee Medel earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1997. Her concentration is in Reading Literacy. Miss Medel is the director of the 3rd-5th grade choir. She loves to sing in choirs at church and her coffee house band "Java Praise". Travel is also a passion for her as she has journeyed to China and Israel.

Third Grade Mr. Jarvis Manning received his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Concordia University in Seward, NE in the spring of 2006. His concentration is in History. Mr. Manning directs the Speech/Drama group and assists with boys basketball. He is originally from Crown Point, Indiana. He is really a civil war buff. He loves adventures such as hiking, camping, and the outdoors.

Fourth Grade Mrs. Amanda Manning is a graduate of Concordia University in River Forest, IL. She graduated in the spring of 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a Psychology concentration. Mrs. Manning assists with the Speech/Drama group. She is originally from Decatur, IL. She loves to hike, watch hockey, and listen to music. Her favorite christian rock band is Hawk Nelson and is a Cubs fan. Cubs forever!

Fifth Grade Mrs. Rebecca Weiss received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in History from Concordia University in Seward, NE in the spring of 2006. She is from Sheperdsville, Kentucky and has six siblings back home. She completed her student teaching in Australia. She loves to travel and she loves a good book. She also enjoys all the exhibits and museums in Washington D.C.

Sixth Grade Mr. Ted Weiss earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Video Production from Central Michigan University in 2002. He then graduated from Concordia University in River Forest, IL with a Master of Arts in Teaching with an emphasis in English. He is originally from Clinton Township, MI. He loves movies, books, and taking photographs. He has helped with the making of a movie in the camera department. Mr. Weiss is a huge Detroit sports fan. He will be working with our track team this year. |

Seventh Grade Miss Jamie McCormick is a 2002 graduate of Concordia University in Seward, NE. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Miss McCormick is the school's athletic director. She is head coach for volleyball and girl's basketball. She is currently the K-2 choir director. Miss McCormick was born and raised in Illinois and is therefore a Fighting Illini basketball fan. |

Eighth Grade Mr. Clay Soderstrom received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University
of Idaho in Elementary Education with a Math concentration
in December of 1988. Mr. Soderstrom is the school's
technology administrator. He is a die hard Dolphins
fan and can be seen on the UNR sidelines rooting for
his Idaho Vandals. |

Mrs. Shelly Perkins is our Pre Kindergarten Teacher. She is a graduate from Virginia Academy Institute with a major in Elementary Education. She has taught in California, Georgia, Alabama and Nevada. |
