“Five Words of Understanding”
“But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue.” – 1 Corinthians 14:19 Coincidentally, it was five words that became the source for one of the most enduring symbols of the Christian faith, the fish. The fish symbol, or ICHTHUS, was a beloved symbol for Christians because the five letters that spelled out the word were the first letters of five words bywhich the Christians confessed their Lord: Jesus, Christ, God’s Son, Savior. This VBS program is based on the five words of the ICHTHUS.
